Bay To Breakers is one of my FAVORITE days in San Francisco. Each year, on the 3rd Sunday in May, tens of thousands of costume-clad people take to the streets of SF. B2B is an organized 12k race from the San Francisco "Bay" to the "Breakers" at the Pacific Ocean. A few thousand people actually run the race, but the rest of us dress in costume and walk the course.
This year Erica Stokes, one of my Rams from Fordham Volleyball (woot woot), and her fiance James came out from Brooklyn, NY for the B2B experience. Our group decided on a "bumblebee" theme. Erica and I were bees, and Brian and James were "bee-catchers." Joe was "that character Macaulay Culkin plays in 'My Girl' who gets stung by the bee"...who knows.
Our day started around 6:00am as we dressed in costume and filled our "water bottles" for the day. We took public transportation downtown and made it to the start just in time to join the thousands of people who were throwing tortillas in the air (a B2B starting line tradition).
We had a fantastic day, saw tons of amazing costumes, and made it until mile 4 before veering off course for cheeseburgers. We're still working on a theme for next year. Anyone want to join us?!
